Will my privacy be protected? We respect and honour your privacy. Bella strives to provide you with complete confidentiality. We will never sell, barter, rent or share your email address or any of your information to any unauthorized third party. What are Bella’s professional credentials? Bella earned her Masters of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology and was a registered and contributing member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors for over a decade. Bella received her clinical training at the University of British Columbia and has many years of experience counselling children, adolescents, and families with a variety of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, problematic behaviour, trauma, divorce, conflict, disordered and emotional eating, addictions, identity issues, attachment, trust, and loss, grief and bereavement. What modalities does Bella use? Bella uses a holistic approach that works with all areas of your mind, body, heart and spirit. She firmly believes counselling is a collaborative process, which means that Bella will align with you. Collaboratively you can both work together in addressing your current concerns, whether that may be refining life skills such as managing your mood; stress and anxiety; building strength and confidence; improving relationships; life transitions or pursuing personal development. Bella draws from a variety of therapeutic orientations depending on the issues and concerns you would like to work on. Her humanistic approach provides you with a gentle, relaxing, respectful and non-judgmental atmosphere where you are safe to speak your mind, be curious and inquire about what may be distressing you and be free to explore your inner world. Bella tailors therapy to each individual, couple or family and offers both short and long-term treatment depending on each individual’s needs and treatment goals. She also offers distance support for those who have worked with her before and are looking for contact prior to their next appointment via the telephone or wifi. Through distance support you can feel encouraged, be supported, gain inspiration and be reminded of how much you’ve grown as well as help in maintaining the positive changes you’ve already made. Bella’s style is supportive, eclectic, integrative and interactive as she uses a what works best for you tailored approach. What goes on in the first appointment? Your first meeting with Bella is a chance for you to tell her something about yourself and what has prompted you to seek her supportive help. It also provides an opportunity to find out more about how Bella works, ask questions, and express your concerns. As well, it is an opportunity for both of you to get a sense of whether you are a good match and would like to work together. At the initial appointment if you and Bella decide to continue meeting, you will also discuss fees and scheduling. What kinds of people, problems, issues and concerns does Bella deal with? Have a look at the Welcome section for a detailed yet not exclusive list of areas of Practice. It is important to mention that working on specific issues can facilitate change for the better in other areas of your life as humans are complex and interconnected beings. What is the payment and cancellation policy? Payment is expected on the day of your session, payable by e-transfer or cash. If you would like to cancel or change your appointment time, please contact Bella at 778.834.7546 at least 48 hours in advance. For all cancellations with less than 48 hours advanced notice, clients will be charged a $100 no-show fee. How much are fees? Bella Counselling fees are in line with the recommended fee guidelines set forth by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. Fees are based on session length regardless of the number of people attending an appointment and are in effect when utilizing distance support via the telephone or wifi. If finances become a hindrance to you continuing with counselling, let Bella know and it may be possible to renegotiate the fee as Bella Counselling does offer student rates and has a sliding scale. Some extended health benefit plans may reimburse all or a portion of the fees for Counsellor Services. UBC’s AMS/GSS student Health Plan and SFU’s SFSS Health Plan does cover RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor) services as well as some Sun Life and Pacific Blue Cross plans. Please check with your extended health care service provider as you may be eligible for coverage. If your extended health benefits plan does not currently include RCC’s, some clients have been successful in expanding their coverage to include RCC’s by asking their human resources department to contact their group insurance provider and request that their plan be changed to cover the services of a RCC at no additional cost. Bella Counselling can provide you with a sample letter as an easy way to approach your benefits department and extended health care provider. Simply contact us and we will immediately send you a copy of the sample letter. How long does Counselling, Therapy or Coaching take? Honestly it takes as long as it takes, and generally it would be you who decides when you are done. Length of time can vary from person to person and depends on factors such as the types of problems and issues to be worked on and how recent or longstanding they are. Frequency of sessions, finances, availability of babysitters, your work schedule and willingness to engage in the process of therapy and commitment to doing the work as well as other external circumstances can affect the length and time.
